Stormy Skies and Studio Vibes | Engagement Session

Winter in the Pacific Northwest often brings cloudy skies and a steady drizzle, so we were fully prepared for a typical PNW day during Nicole and Tim’s engagement session at Government Cove in the Columbia River Gorge. But as luck would have it, the weather had other plans! Just as we arrived, the skies opened up and the wind came roaring through the Gorge, turning our romantic outdoor shoot into a true PNW adventure.

Nicole and Tim were absolute troopers—smiling, laughing, and embracing every gust of wind and drop of rain. Even though the storm cut our outdoor time short, their positive energy shone through every photo. To round out their session, we continued the following day in the studio for something a little warmer (and much drier!). The result? A perfect blend of wild, windswept romance and cozy, timeless portraits.

As a Portland photographer, I love how unpredictable weather can lead to some of the most memorable photos. The Columbia River Gorge never disappoints, whether stormy or sunny, it always provides breathtaking backdrops for engagement photography.
