A Wedding Day at Oak + Hood
For many couples, planning an Oregon wedding in January can feel like a gamble but for Brayden and Makenna, it absolutely paid off! Their Oak and Hood wedding was nothing short of stunning, with clear skies and breathtaking views of Mount Hood showing off from Oak and Hood’s expansive patio.
As a Portland wedding photographer, these are the kinds of winter wedding days you dream about: beautiful light, meaningful details, and a couple completely wrapped up in the joy of their wedding day.
Makenna’s bridal details were especially memorable. She wore custom embroidered wedding cowboy boots in a soft cream with delicate blue flowers, perfectly tying into their dusty blue wedding color palette.
The morning began with getting ready in Oak and Hood’s spacious bridal suite while Brayden and the guys finished putting the final décor details into place. Their wedding was filled with meaningful personal touches, including strings of photos from Brayden and Makenna’s relationship, a custom slideshow of their life together displayed above the bar, carefully selected Bible verses on the welcome table, and even an Italian soda bar for guests to enjoy!
One of the sweetest parts of the day was Makenna’s first look with her dad, followed by an emotional first look with Brayden. These quiet, meaningful moments are always some of my favorites to document as a Portland wedding photographer, and they made for such heartfelt wedding photography memories.
Their bridal party was the perfect mix of sweet and spirited, featuring two gregarious flower girls, one dashing ring bearer, two bridesmaids, and two groomsmen. Their ceremony was held indoors, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere for their vows.
As the sun began to set, we snuck the newlyweds away to chase golden light in the field below Oak and Hood. With the winter sunset and open landscape, it created some of the most romantic portraits of the day; the kind of images that make an Oak and Hood wedding so special.
The reception was just as memorable, featuring catering from Famous Dave’s BBQ and desserts from Papa Haydn’s. The evening was filled with epic dancing, joyful celebration, and ended with a beautiful sparkler exit the perfect ending to an unforgettable wedding day!
Brayden and Makenna’s wedding was such a beautiful reminder that winter weddings in Oregon can be absolutely magical.
