A Portland Waterfront Wedding | Nikki & Tim at the Portland Marriott

Perched above the Willamette with the Portland skyline stretching wide behind it, the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront is the kind of venue that sets a mood before the first guest even arrives. For Nikki and Tim, it was the perfect backdrop for a day that was warm, beautiful, and entirely their own.
The First Look

Before the ceremony, Nikki and Tim chose to share a first look. A private moment, just the two of them, before the crowd gathered. As Tim turned to see Nikki for the first time in her gown, tears came almost immediately, and she wasn't far behind. There's something about that unguarded moment, without an aisle full of eyes, that strips away the performance of the day and gets to the truth of it.

A first look is also one of the smartest logistical decisions a couple can make. It allows portraits to happen before the ceremony while energy is fresh and emotions haven't yet been spent. It means the couple can actually enjoy cocktail hour with their guests. And perhaps most importantly, it means walking down the aisle feeling calm and connected, because you've already had your private moment.

Bridal Portraits on the South Waterfront

For their portraits, Nikki and Tim stepped outside into a Portland spring afternoon along the South Waterfront. The season was at its absolute peak: that brief, brilliant window when the greens are almost unreal in their vibrancy. Against that lush backdrop, with the Willamette just beyond, the two of them moved through their portraits with ease, laughing and completely at home with each other.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place in Skyline Room #2, and the name does not exaggerate. Behind Nikki and Tim as they exchanged their vows stretched one of the most breathtaking views Portland has to offer. The city skyline rising above the river, the West Hills rolling softly in the distance, the whole gorgeous panorama framing their promises to each other.

The Reception

The reception carried the warmth of the day into the evening. Mayfly Flowers filled the space with abundant arrangements of coral and salmon roses layered, lush, and deeply romantic every color of a summer sunset brought indoors. Guests dined, danced, and celebrated two people who clearly inspire a great deal of love in everyone around them.
