Trillium Lake Engagement Session | Mitch & Kennedy

A sunrise photoshoot at Trillium Lake in Oregon is always worth the early alarm, and this session was a perfect example of how beautiful the Pacific Northwest can be, even when the mountain decides to hide! We arrived at the lake and the morning fog was fully settled in, creating a thick, moody atmosphere across the water. Mount Hood was completely hidden, but the morning mist gave the entire session a dreamy, almost cinematic feel that made these photos feel extra special.

We started right along the shoreline, taking advantage of the still water and soft morning light. Instead of the classic Mount Hood reflection that Trillium Lake is famous for, we got something a little different.

Of course, we had to include their pups! After capturing some photos by the water, we spent time exploring the trails around Trillium Lake, finding beautiful forest backdrops and PNW-vibe spots. Bringing your dogs to an engagement or couples photoshoot is such a fun way to make the experience personal.

Planning a sunrise photoshoot at Trillium Lake? Here is our biggest tip: if your dream is to capture Mount Hood reflected perfectly in the water, sunrise is generally your best bet. The lake is often calmer in the early morning, giving you a better chance of getting that beautiful mountain reflection before wind creates ripples across the water. Clear skies are important, too, so keep in mind that the weather and visibility can change quickly in the mountains.

Trillium Lake is one of our favorite locations for couples photos, engagement sessions, and adventure photography near Mount Hood.
