An Engagement Session at The Oregon Garden in Silverton, OR

Have you ever met someone for the first time and you just get this instant “good people” vibe? When I first spoke to Corey and Jessica, I think we were about 2 minutes into our conversation when I had this exact feeling. You would be hard pressed to find a kinder, more sincere couple than these two. Spending an afternoon with them is almost like a spa day- they just have this relaxed and calming presence which is honestly a wonderful break from my normal hectic schedule!

We had originally planned to do their shoot at the Rhododendron Garden which is literally 6 minutes away from my house (I know, lucky right!?). However, even though Multnomah county has now entered phase one, the volunteer system that opens and helps run it isn’t back up and running yet so on the day-of we had to figure out a plan B.

Now, if you know me at all, you know I’m a little type-A when it comes to my photography. I’m just the kind of photographer who will go to a site an hour before the session start time and walk it through completely, taking time to find all the best spots and working out how to find the best light. Changing the location like this on the fly meant I’d have to break the mold and experience this new location for the first time while shooting. I think I would have had butterflies had it not been for Jessica and Corey being so relaxed and comfortable from minute one! :)

Jessica found this GORGEOUS, GIGANTIC botanical garden in Silverton called Oregon Garden. It is over 80 Acres of beautifully manicured pathways, fields, sculptures, waterfalls, and rock landscaping with literally every variety of plant you could think of. We had the perfect semi-cloudy day and spent almost two hours walking around enjoying the peaceful nature of the location.

Jessica was dressed in a gorgeous white lacy summer dress which was speckled with a soft pink floral design and she added a cute belt to tie it all in and make it her own! I love it when couples come to engagement shoots wearing dresses and light, neutral colors! It matches my light and airy style and this choice was literally perfect for the gardens!

Corey was also a total natural! It’s actually a bit rare to find a groom that is excited about the engagement session, but Corey was 100% in it to win it from the beginning. He was so comfortable in front of the camera and was a wiz at making Jessica giggle which is a huge added bonus!

I find that in most engagement sessions it takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the couple to warm to the process and thats when I start getting those truly natural and candid expressions that I love, and as you scroll through a selection of our images below you can see Corey and Jessica’s easy-going and quick to laugh personality coming through!

Corey and Jessica will have their wedding at The Willows in Dallas Oregon next September and I can’t wait to spend another day hanging out with them!
